About Mooot

A free daily word game for curious minds and competitive friends.

What is Mooot?

Mooot is a free daily word game inspired by the Wordle format. Every day, a new 5-letter word is selected, and players have 6 attempts to guess it. The game gives colour-coded feedback after each guess: green for correct letters in the right position, yellow for letters that appear in the word but in the wrong spot, and grey for letters not in the word.

What sets Mooot apart is its social layer: using a Telegram bot, friends can form private leagues, share their daily results, and compete on automatic leaderboards — no spreadsheets required.

Mooot is available in English (mooot.app) and Catalan (mooot.cat). Each version uses a language-specific validated dictionary.

Languages supported

English · mooot.app Català · mooot.cat

The English version uses a curated dictionary of standard English words. The Catalan version validates words against the DIEC2 and DISC dictionaries, ensuring that every solution is a legitimate, normative Catalan word.

How the game works

Each day at midnight, a new word is selected from the validated word list for each language. Players can access the game directly at mooot.app in their browser — no app download required. The game works on mobile, tablet, and desktop.

When you share your result in a Telegram group that has the Mooot bot, the bot automatically reads your score and updates the group leaderboard. At the end of each month, the top players in each ranking receive virtual trophies themed around a monthly collection (Pyrenean wildlife, mountain landscapes, etc.).

Players can also earn acorns (the in-game currency) by playing every day and completing challenges. Acorns can be spent at the black market to acquire specific postcards from any monthly collection.

The postcards

One of Mooot's most distinctive features is its collectible postcard system. Each month, a new themed collection of illustrated postcards is released. January 2026 featured Pyrenean wildlife in winter — chamois, bearded vultures, bears, and more. Players can collect them through gameplay or the black market.

The illustrations are currently generated with AI tools, with each postcard starting from a specific creative brief. The project is open to collaborating with artists who want to contribute hand-drawn illustrations.

Who built Mooot?

An indie project built with love

Mooot is an independent project developed and maintained by a single developer with a passion for word games, language, and community-driven experiences. It started as a fun experiment to bring the Wordle format to Catalan — a language with fewer digital tools available — and grew into a multilingual platform with leagues, trophies, and collectibles.

The tech stack is built on Astro for the web frontend, Supabase for the database, Telegram Bot API for the leagues, and Cloudflare for hosting and edge delivery.
